Burger Love

In case you didn't know, Alexa and I are burger experts. Here's why. On our honeymoon 5 1/2 years ago, what did we order for room service, first at the Park Ridge Marriott, then the next day at The Library Hotel? That's right, burgers. What was our joint of choice in one of our recent wedding anniversaries? Exactomundo, White Manna in Hackensack, home of the best little burgers. White Castle has nothing on them. What did Alexa want after giving birth to our first born, Gideon? You got it, a burger. And, we celebrate the almighty burger during our road trips. We even have introduced our boy to the wonders of the Five Guys burgers. Lucia is just venturing into squash and rice cereal, so she's yet to understand the love the Soto's have for the burger.

Now that I've established our burger expertise, let me tell you about Bobby's Burger Palace in Paramus. Alexa and I try to have date nights, but today we had a date dinner during her 4:30 pm dinner break from work. We headed to Bobby's despite the fact that we knew today was the grand opening. We knew it would be busy. When we got there, there was a bit of a wait, but not too bad. Only about 10 minutes. Good thing we arrived there at about 4:35pm, for as soon as 5pm approached, the line snaked outside the door of the restaurant.

I ordered a burger with potato (or potatoe for all you Dan Quayle fans) chips in it. I guess I can tell you the name, but perhaps I shouldn't. I noticed a little TM symbol after the name of the burger, which means it's trademarked. I wouldn't want to misname the burger.

Anyway, once we got to our seats, Alexa and I smiled and giggled like little kids waiting to open up their Christmas gifts. We couldn't wait. Alexa then told me that the burger will most likely be closer to medium rare, which I could do if it was a piece of steak, but a burger? I usually eat my burgers medium well to well done. I didn't care. I was too excited and I didn't think that a celebrity chef would make a bad tasting burger. Therefore, in my head, I convinced myself that medium rare is just another way of saying almost non-existent.

A few moments later, the tall burger arrives. I had already peeked at the burgers of those around us and noted its height, but as it drew nearer to me via the hand of the unnamed person holding the tray, I realized its true height. As always, we said grace, then we dug right in.

It didn't disappoint. Alexa and I stare at each other still with bits of burger in our mouths, and there, we realized that this was one of the best, if not the best burgers, we have ever tasted.

There you have it. That was our early dinner date today - exactly 9 years after meeting each other for the first time. Time flies by so fast when you're having fun, and the burger has been a continuous point of joy in our relationship.

While Daddy's Away...we all play! (including the cat)

Alex had to go to Virginia yesterday for a work thing. I took today off, because I didn't have any childcare. It is always so much fun to stay home with the kids, (even if I had to clean Gideon's poop out of the bathtub!). This potty training thing is so not working.

For the most part, all housework gets put on hold, while we play non-stop. I try to get stuff done while they nap, except I am blogging right now while they nap, so whatever. One of the Gidster's favorite things to do, is to hand stuff to Lucia. He likes watching her try to devour whatever stuffed animal, toy, or miscellaneous piece of whatever he gives her. Except, of course, if it's a favorite stuffed animal, like Pooh or Pluto. Then he lets her have it for two seconds, and the instant there is baby saliva on it, he is all like, "I don't think so..", and he snaps his fingers in her face and walks away in a huff. Oh wait, that is what I do to Alex when he wants me to cook. Hee hee, ho ho. I am so-o-o funny.

Here she is, having been handed the container of baby cereal puffs. Notice the innocent expression, that's all, "What? I am only six months old.". I've got her number.

Here they both are in our very messy play area. Gideon refused to look up. He was saying, "Cheeeeese!", but not looking at me. Like that counts.

Lucia is now eating real food. She and Gideon share the high chair. She really likes sitting there. Of couse, in two seconds, she will have banana and cereal all over the place. This is definitely the "before" picture.

She makes these high pitched sounds, and coos. And she blows raspberries. Oh! Also, she got her ears pierced! Click on the pic for a closer look. I am trying to download some videos, down below. Hopefully, they load. If they do, you will see, (and hear) her eating and making her noises. You will also hear my man laugh, and Gideon making a huge racket. Enjoy.
